reviewswhat are people saying

"An excellent lens-especially for the price. The constant f2.8 maximum aperture makes it a first class, low light addition. It is solidly constructed and should last quite a while."

bhphotovideo.com

"This lens is great. It is consistently sharp, with excellent contrast, and good color balance."

bhphotovideo.com

"Given the focal length range and the constant f/2.8, this would be a perfect portrait lens if it had a high speed focus. As it is, it's only above average."

The cost of the Tamron is definetely the winner. Only the optical quality and the loud auto focus motor are some issues to consider respectively compared to the Sony.
Sony has better control of flare, ghosting, CA and its sharpness at centers and corners is a bit better when using wide aperture in both 16mm and 50mm.
