"The macro is incredible for flowers, butterflies, pretty much anything you would want to get 1:2."

"I recently took a trip up and down the coast of California and took only this one lens...it worked perfectly! I could not have been happier with the results."

"I have found that the only time I have run into an issue is when shooting macro. But because I am aware of not having VR, I just hold stiller or use my mono pod. Otherwise it is a great lens!"

There are two types of APO lenses from Sigma 70-300mm DG Macro - Motorized and Non-motorized. Depends on what you actually purchased

just bought a nikon d5100 and i was about to buy the sigma 70-300 mm online when i saw mindyrynard's comment that it DOESN'T autofocus, contrary to sigma's claim that it will autofocus on all kinds of nikon dslrs because it's got BIM (built-in-motor)....really?

I confirm with Gil that this lens has a focus motor built in and claims to auto focus with ALL nikon DSLR also the lens is quick and quit when focusing so I dont know what lens you had but it is not noisy. :)

Actually, this lens WILL focus with lower Nikons without focus motors. It has an integrated HSM motor.
