"I can not imagine paying double this price from the Canon lens and I am a firm believer in Canon lenses. Very sharp and with the hyper sonic motor it is as fast as my ultrasonic lenses. It is built very sturdy and I am sure it will be well worth the money."

"I like that its over all lenght remains the same through out its focal lenght - 7 inc is pretty good for a lens of this capability."

"It's pretty heavy, so it makes sense to invest in a monopod, as well. I highly recommend it, though I've never really used the Canon version, so I can't compare the two. But there is nothing that this lens lacks that I would pay twice as much to get."
