"I love the wide angle and pictures are very clear. The image stablization is awsome for those pics that don't use flash."

"Excellent as a travel lens. Has a decent optical quality and zoom range in a single lens."

"It has slow glass (high f stop), and indoors, in a church/concert environment, I had to majorly boost the ISO resulting in grainy footage."

This lens has its limitations. It doesn't perform perfectly at any focal length. But it has been by far my most used lens (1000s of images) ever since I bought it and it sits on my camera ready for use almost all the time. Above all it is versatile, from moderate wide angle to telephoto on a "crop" dslr. On my Canon 400D I tested it against a Canon 17-85 IS and it beat that for basic sharpness throughout the zoom range. Having said that, the Sigma seems to be designed to managed distortion and chromatic aberration above absolute sharpness. For most of my photgraphy, I can only congratulate Sigma on making what I really need instead of what the (sharpness is everything) photo press / pixel peepers say I need. It is easier to add a little extra sharpness in "post processing" than to fix more complex distortions.  Well built. Well worth the money. Sharp at 200mm and 18mm and good enough most of the range in between. No doubt there is a more recent lens that is better at some things than this, but if I dropped mine and broke it, I'd buy another just the same in a heartbeat.
