"Images are crystal sharp right from wide open, and the close focus ability is amazing and adds to its versatility. Focus is pretty fast for a screw drive macro, although I occassionally find it useful to spin the quick-shift focus to help it along. Color and contrast are great, and it handles tricky lighting situations well. Flare is pretty much non-existant, even shooting into the sun. The built in lens hood is a nice touch."

"The dedicated lens cap is really nice and cool but it can be difficult to place/keep it on the built-in hood when using filters: You need to extend the hood, place the cap on very flatly and then slide the hood back in straightly and slowly."
