after 2 years....maybe you have a good lens,...now i want to but this 55-300mm and d3300..i think it's better the 55-300 for wildlife, because you have a with a crop senser almost 470mm withi the 55-300mm lenses, but depends of aperture and much other things.Sorry for my english.Paul

i like the 55-300mm lens but i have been advised by Nikon that a teleconverter will not suit my D40 camera and the 55-300mm lens,has anybody any ideas ?

I have the lens but it will not autofocus on my d3200. I was under the understanding that and AF-S lens would work on the d3200 model. Was I wrong?
