I traded some cash and my beloved 20mm F2.8 AFD for this lens. I was so surprised that this lens is so good. You know you need to go wide at times to cover an event or to streatch your creativity and I am happy with this lens on my D300 bodies. I shot an entire Christmas party with this lens and an SB-800 bounced at F4.
