"I took this lens out for a test at the Conservator of Flowers in San Francisco and shot a number of close up flower photos. The results were beautiful! One of my orchid shots even got selected for Wordpress's front page "Freshly Pressed"."

"I shoot marine reef aquariums and corals making it a challenging shot usually through glass. This lens excels at capturing true to life colors and great detail."

"This is a rather heavy lense and with the addition of a flash makes the whole camera weight a lot to manage on hour long shoots."

I'm looking for a macro lens for aquarium photography currently use a 70mm but its not close or fast enough to catch the fish. Would this be ideal I want 1:1 also shooting with a d700

Takes some experimentation and practice, but a great lens on both FX and DX bodies. VR is helpful, but for real macro work you'll want to use a tripod and turn it off. Read the manual and work with it. I get best results at f/11 with lots of light–- natural or flash. Portraits rival my classic 85 f/1.4 D.

This would be a great lens for portraiture. The one thing I'd keep in mind is that the long focal length would mean you'd have to have some distance between you and your subject, so it wouldn't work well if you were shooting in a small room, especially on an APS-C sensor.

I need a lens for macro, but provide the ability to cover portraiture. Is this lens what I need? Or I should go for Nikkor 105 mm DC...
