Hi there, any update on this thread?

I'm really interested in buying a super zoom lens but I don't know if I should go for the Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM or the Tamron AF 18-270mm F3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD LD Aspherical IF Macro.

It seems the Tamron has better reviews overall but besides being lighter and smaller, this lens seems to be affected by serious barrel distortion at the wide end through to the long end of the lens, with no real "sweet spot". The sigma may be of better IQ but not too sure; not too sure either whether the HSM performs better than the piezo drive. In brief reviews differ and I could really use a bit of commenting/reviewing on these 2 lenses to understand which one you think is best.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers,
-Luc
